Our Curriculum in Three Principles:
Our pupils are proud to belong to a small rural community with a rich and longstanding history. Through our curriculum, children develop a strong sense of identity and belonging, learning about their local area and understanding the important role they play within their community. We encourage pupils to value the people, traditions and shared experiences that shape the place they call home.
While rooted in our rural setting, our curriculum opens pupils’ eyes to the wider world. Children learn about different cultures, perspectives and experiences so they grow into respectful, tolerant and open-minded individuals. We want our pupils to recognise that they are part of a diverse and interconnected global community.
We believe every child should have the opportunity to succeed, regardless of their starting point. Our curriculum equips pupils with the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to achieve their ambitions and fulfil their potential. By raising aspirations, broadening horizons and providing meaningful learning experiences, we support our pupils to overcome barriers and access the opportunities available to them in the future.
Together, these three principles ensure that our pupils leave Church Eaton with a strong sense of who they are, where they belong and what they can achieve.
Our pupils will leave Church Eaton as:
· Community Builders who are aware that they are part of a small rural community with a very long and very proud history and can use this sense of community spirit to work collaboratively with others for the common good.
· Clear Communicators who are literate and numerate in all contexts and aware that they are part of an enormous diverse wider world that will provide endless opportunities for them to apply these skills.
· Successful learners who are equipped with a toolkit of skills which they can, regardless of their starting points, use to succeed and be the best that they can be (social mobility).
Our pupils will:
· produce work of quality
· learn what was intended
· achieve well in national tests
· be well prepared for next steps
· able to read age-appropriate materials.
