Intent

Art at Church Eaton ensure all pupils are engaged, inspired and challenged,  equipping them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of art, craft and design. As pupils progress, they will have opportunity to think critically and develop a more rigorous understanding of art and design. They will also know how art and design both reflect and shape our history, and contribute to the culture, creativity and wealth of our nation. Pupils will become proficient in drawing, painting sculpting and other art, craft and design techniques.

Implementation

Art at Church Eaton is taught discretely in each class. Where possible, the art topic will link to the wider foundation topic.  All of our art topics use the Cornerstones curriculum as a basis for lessons to ensure there is appropriate coverage of the national curriculum. Our art lessons build the skills needed for a particular area of art before producing a final piece at the end of each block of lessons. All final art pieces will be evaluated and analysed using the bank of vocabulary they have developed throughout their art lessons.
