Overview
Children in Years 5 and 6 take part in ukulele lessons alongside their music curriculum. These lessons give pupils the opportunity to learn an instrument and develop creative skills. Pupils also experience the enjoyment of making music together.
Building a Strong Community
Learning music together encourages cooperation and teamwork. Pupils practise as a group and support one another as they develop new skills. Performances and shared music-making bring the school community together.
Supporting Understanding of Diversity
Music lessons introduce pupils to musical styles and traditions from around the world. Children learn how music reflects different cultures and experiences. This encourages curiosity and appreciation of diverse influences.
Creating Opportunities for All Pupils (Social Mobility)
Providing music lessons in school ensures every pupil can learn an instrument. Music helps children develop confidence, creativity, and perseverance. These skills can inspire future interests and opportunities.
